The final judging session for the annual end-of-year music awards, the 67th Shining! The Japan Record Awards(sponsored by the Japan Composer's Association), was held at the New National Theatre (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) on December 30th, and from the four groups that won the New Artist Award, the seven-member girl group HANA was selected as the Best New Artist Award winner.
HANA was born from the girl group audition "No No Girls" (commonly known as Nonoga), produced by rapper Chanmina-san, and made their major debut in April this year. On this day, they performed "Blue Jeans."
When asked to comment on how she felt about receiving the award, JISOO replied, "YURI has been practicing hard," and YURI, occasionally choking up, said, "I'm so grateful to all of you, Chan-san, everyone at B-RAVE (my agency), the staff who support me from close by, and all the Honeys (nickname for the fans), for supporting me to receive this wonderful award. I'll keep doing my best!"
The 67th The Japan Record Awards will be broadcast live on the TBS network, and will be hosted by actor Haruna Kawaguchi and TBS announcer Shinichiro Azumi.
