It has been announced that the 2014 Asadora drama series "Massan," starring actor Tetsuji Tamayama, will be rebroadcast on General TV from 12:30pm to 12:45pm Monday through Friday, starting December 22nd. The drama will consist of 150 episodes, and will also be streamed simultaneously on NHK ONE (New NHK Plus).
In "Massan," Tamayama and Charlotte Kate Fox play the married couple Kameyama Masaharu and Ellie, who are based on the lives of Taketsuru Masataka, known as the "father of Japanese whiskey," and his Scottish wife, Rita. The story is about the love and adventures of Massan and Ellie, who live uprightly through turbulent times with the bond between husband and wife.
The script was written by Daisuke Habara, and the cast also includes Saki Saki Aibu, Akari Hayami, Akari Hayami, Naomi Nishida, Noriko Eguchi, Noriko Eguchi, Eiko Koike, Morio Kazama, Pinko Izumi, and Shinichi Tsutsumi.

"Massan" will be rebroadcast! Looking back on that time, it was a tumultuous year in my life. Even now, 11 years later, people still call out "Massan!" to me on the street. Every time that happens, I realize I've come across a wonderful work. It's as if half of me is Massan (laughs). I hope you enjoy the laughter, tears, pain, frustration, and love that Charlotte and I portrayed as a married couple. I'd like to thank all the co-stars, staff, and Massan fans who supported me and Charlotte, as well as the Massan couple, for the great love they showed them. It's a treasure I'll cherish for the rest of my life. I hope you'll definitely watch it.
