The 24th episode of the NHK morning drama " Anpan " starring Mio Imada(General Asadora , Monday to Saturday 8:00 am and others) was broadcast on May 1st. In the episode, viewers were drawn to the words spoken by Nobu ( Yuumi Kawai) and Meiko (Nanoka Hara) to Iwao (Hamao Noritaka) in an attempt to thwart Ranko's (Kawai Yumi) marriage proposal.
In episode 24, Ranko was meeting Iwao at a coffee shop to accept his marriage proposal. Nobu came running in and told him, "Don't be hasty!" and that Ranko was getting married to help save her family.
Iwao retorted, "That sounds like you're marrying a man you don't even love for money," to which Nobu replied, "Yes." Meiko then rushed over and revealed, "You told me, Ranko. When Iwao cheated in the bread-eating contest, I said, 'I hope you hit your head on the corner of the bread and die, you bastard!'" and took Ranko back to her home. Iwao was left there, stunned and in great shock.
On social media, people were saying things like, "I'm sorry, but I burst out laughing," "That's a bombshell," "That's harsh lol," "Meiko's innocent blow is scary," "Iwao's acting as a stinger is the best," and "I really feel sorry for Iwao."
In addition, Ranko's comment about the "corner of a slice of bread" in episode 12 (broadcast on April 15th) became so popular that it was trending on X, and has now become a trending topic again. On social media, there were comments such as "I can't believe the corner of a slice of bread was a hint!!" and "Is that where her comment about the corner of a slice of bread comes in?"
