"Drama 1 Week" introduces the main drama news of the week. This time (April 19-15), we will be talking about the fact that former "Nogizaka46" and actor Mizuki Yamashita will be starring in the drama series "W-30: My Murdered Husband Has Returned," which will start airing on WOWOW in July, and that Myu Moriyama and Hyoroku, who rose to fame on TBS's popular variety show "Wednesday Downtown," will be making a guest appearance in the drama series "Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm). We will be covering these topics in two parts.
On April 23, it was revealed that the popular Korean suspense drama "Monster" will be remade with actors Ken Yasuda Ken and Koshi Mizukami in the lead roles, and will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW from July. Yasuda plays the role of Togashi Hiroyuki, a police officer who has a history of being a suspect in a disappearance case, and Mizukami plays the role of Yashiro Masato, a career police bureaucrat who graduated from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law. This is the first time the two have co-starred. Mizukami will be appearing in a WOWOW drama for the first time and his first leading role. The original drama "Monster" was produced by SLL, a major Korean studio that has worked on such works as "Itaewon Class " and "The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate," and will be broadcast on JTBC in 2021. It won three awards at the Baeksang Arts Awards, Korea's most prestigious awards, including Best Drama, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor in the same year.
On the 24th, it was announced that Yamashita will star in the serial drama W-30 "My Murdered Husband Has Returned," which will begin airing on WOWOW in July. This will be Yamashita's first time starring in a serial drama, and her first time appearing in a WOWOW serial drama. This suspense mystery is based on the novel of the same name by Sakurai Mina, published in 2021 (Shogakukan). The protagonist, Suzukura Mana (Yamashita), takes her first steps toward her dream of becoming a designer while hiding the secret of killing her abusive husband. However, one day, the husband she thought she had killed suddenly appears with no memory... and so the story unfolds. There are 6 episodes in total. It will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand.
On the 24th, it was revealed that Tetsuya Komuro will make a cameo appearance as himself in the movie " Ya Boy Kongming! THE MOVIE" (directed by Shuhei Shibue), starring Osamu Mukai . Komuro will appear as a VIP guest invited to the music battle festival "Music Battle Awards 2025", where the three major music labels compete against each other, just like the setting of the Three Kingdoms, where the film is set. It has already been announced that the nine-member global group "&TEAM" and Takanori Iwata will appear as themselves, and voice actor Mamoru Miyano will appear as MC Mamo in the festival scene where Komuro appears, making it a "festival movie" that will give you the same uplifting feeling as a live music concert.
On the 24th, it was announced that Moriyama and Hyoroku will be making guest appearances in the second episode (broadcast on April 29th) of the drama series "Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays 9pm). The two, who rose to fame on "Wednesday Downtown," will appear in the same story. The theme of the second episode is the mystery of a strange illness. Moriyama will play Mizuhara Maki, who is rushed to the hospital in a confused state with countless mysterious handprints on her arm, screaming "The water god is trying to kill me!" Hyoroku will appear as a security guard who stands in the way of the main character, Amakura Takao (Kanna Hashimoto), who is trying to solve the mystery.
On the 24th, Seiyo Uchino attended a cast event for the drama "PJ ~Aviation Rescue Team~" (TV Asahi, Thursday 9pm) in Tokyo, in which he stars. In reference to the theme of the drama, when asked about "the moment that saved you in your life," Uchino said, "There are many, but one that left a strong impression on me was when I was almost drowning in the ocean when I was a child and was about to be swept away by the waves, and my father grabbed me (by the arm) and saved my life." He also said about the role he is playing, "When I'm playing this role, I feel like I'm somewhat similar to Yoshida Shoin, so I've started reading Yoshida Shoin's manga (recently). I think that the way he ignites the dreams and motivation of young people is like a modern-day Yoshida Shoin."
In addition, in the first episode of the drama broadcast on the same day, three "heroes" appeared as trainees of the Air Self-Defense Force Aviation Rescue Wing: Atsuhiro Inukai, who played Kamen Rider Build/Kiryu Sento in "Kamen Rider Build" (2017-18), Kentaro Maeda , who played Kamen Rider Revise/Igarashi Kazuki in "Kamen Rider Revise" (2021-22), and Aoto Watanabe , who played Tombo Oger/Yanma Gust in " King-Ohger " (2023-24). On social media, comments such as "There are two Kamen Riders among the trainees," "It's refreshing and funny to see Yanma-kun acting all sissy (lol)," "It's refreshing to see the scaredy Yanma leader," and "It's like a Sunday morning festival!" were posted.
