It has been revealed that singer and voice actress Nana Mizuki will be appearing in the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama Yokohama. This will be Mizuki's first time appearing in a Taiga drama, and she will play Chienonaishi, a female kyoka poet from the Tenmei period.
Chienonaishi is the wife of the bathhouse owner Motono Mokuami (James Onoda). She leads the Tenmei Kyoka together with her husband. She met Tsutaju (Yokohama) at a Kyoka gathering attended by Ota Nanpo (Kenta Kiritani) and her husband Motono Mokuami, and they became close friends.
Mizuki commented, "I was really surprised when I was asked to appear in a taiga drama. Chienonaishi is one of the few female kyoka poets, and by composing sharp, humorous poems she was able to connect with many people regardless of their social status, and together with her husband and friends she created joy and joy that would put smiles on people's faces in an era when entertainment was scarce. Conveying words, connecting people through song and bringing smiles to people's faces are many areas that connect with my work as a voice actress and singer, so I am honored to have been given this role, which is a very special connection to me. It's my first time doing this so I'm nervous throughout the film, but I will do my best to perform the role!"
It was also announced that Saki Takaoka will play Tsuyo, Tsutae's real mother, James Onoda will play Motono Mokuami, Hyoroku will play Matsumae Hirotoshi, an Edo elder retainer of the Matsumae clan, Tsubasa Nakagawa will play Minokichi, a clerk at Maruya, Kazuki Enari will play Matsumae Michihiro, the head of the Matsumae clan, and Hideki Takahashi will play Tokugawa Harusada, the lord of the Kishu clan.
" UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama, depicting the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have built the foundations of Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, known for "Drama 10 'Ooku'" which was broadcast on NHK two years ago and became a big hit.
