As the first of many events leading up to the release of the new anime Mobile Police Patlabor EZY, a new series based on the popular Mobile Police Patlabor Patlabor series, a special talk event called "Now is the time to talk about Patlabor" in Kinshicho will be held on April 13th at Sumida Industrial Hall (Sumida Ward, Tokyo). Izubuchi Yutaka from the original creator group HEADGEAR, Furukawa Toshio, the voice actor for Shinohara Yuma, Toshio Furukawa Michihiro, the voice actor for Ota Isao, and Kasahara Hiroko, who sang the theme song, will talk about their memories of Mobile Police Patlabor. Robo Ishimaru will act as the MC. Guests are welcome to enjoy a drink while watching the event.
The "Mobile Police Patlabor Spring Traffic Safety Campaign POP-UP Shop" will also be open at Kinshicho Marui (same address) until April 13th.
"Mobile Police Patlabor" is set in the near future where walking work machines called Labors have been put to practical use, and depicts the activities of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Special Vehicle Section 2 Company (Special Vehicle Section 2) as they fight against Labor crimes, as well as the daily lives of Izumi Noa and other members of the force. Masami Yuki's manga was serialized in the manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan) from 1988 to 1994. A TV anime series was broadcast from 1989 to 1990, and the animated film version directed by Mamoru Oshii also gained popularity. A live-action version was also made, which became a hot topic.
It has been announced that the new anime "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY" project will start in 2026. Izubuchi will be the director, and Kazunori Ito will be in charge of the series composition and script. JCSTAFF will produce the anime.
