It has been announced that the stage play "Hazakaiki," written and directed by Daisuke Miura and starring Ryuhei Maruyama, a member of the popular group "SUPER EIGHT," will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW on May 3. Maruyama plays an entertainment journalist in the showbiz world, and the much talked about play depicts the turmoil of people struggling with the unique relationship between the media and celebrities, as they are tossed about by the times.
This is the first work that Miura, who has produced shocking works with his sharp sensibility and realistic direction, has worked on in about three years, and was performed in Tokyo and Osaka from March to May last year. This is the first time that the leading actor Maruyama has teamed up with Miura.
"Hazakaiki" will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 5:30 pm on May 3rd.

Entertainment journalist Yuichi Sugawara (Maruyama) is in charge of a scandal involving a love affair between nationally popular talent Kaori Hashimoto (Yuri Tsunematsu) and popular artist Isamu Kato (Joe Kujo). The leak was made by Kaori's friend Yuko Noguchi (Yui Yokoyama). Kaori's father Koji Hashimoto (Morio Kazama) was a popular actor, but became the president of an entertainment agency and now manages her together with Kaori's manager Osamu Tamura (Ryotaro Yonemura).
Following Kaori as she leaves her apartment, Sugawara goes into a bar where he finds Kaori's mother, Tomoko (Ozora Yuhi), who is divorced from Koji. Sugawara has a girlfriend, Suzuki Satomi (Honami Sato), with whom he lives, and a best friend, Imai Shinji (Katsuji Ryo). Sugawara finds comfort in his life with Satomi and believes that this lifestyle will continue in the future, but in fact the two are not happy with Sugawara's work. Then one day, Isamu is expelled from the entertainment industry due to a scandal, and the situation suddenly changes. Kaori's life as an entertainer is also in danger after her passionate love affair with Isamu is exposed, and Sugawara's life as an entertainment reporter is also in the worst situation...
