It has been announced that Nakamura Saki's popular light novel "Though I Am an Inept Villainess" will be adapted into a TV anime. The anime will be directed by Yamazaki Mitsue, with series composition by Nakamura Yoshiko and character design by Kikuchi Ai. It will be produced by Oshi no Ko" and "Chiikawa". Doga Kobo have also been released depicting the two main characters, Huang Linglin and Zhu Huiyue, who switch bodies after a night of brilliant comets.
The story is set in the Suuguu palace, where princesses from five noble families are gathered to raise the next queen, and follows the story of two girls who are complete opposites who switch bodies in the harem. Reirin, a beautiful and intelligent princess from the Huang family, one of the noble families, is loved by those around her, but on the night of Qiqiao Festival, Keigetsu, a princess from the Shu family who is known as a wicked woman and hated by everyone, switches bodies with her... On the night of the bright comet, the fate of the two girls who switch bodies changes drastically, and they soon become embroiled in a conspiracy that shakes up the harem. The novel has been published by Ichijinsha Novels (Ichijinsha), and the comic adaptation has also become popular.
Director Yamazaki commented, "When I first read Futsuka, I thought it was an encouraging story about how the women were so dazzling, free, and elegant. Through the production of the story every day, I have grown to love Reirin and Keigetsu. I hope that viewers will be able to see the friendship and growth of the gorgeous and beautiful young girls that have been made into an anime."
