The "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" series was awarded the Synergy Award at the 19th Seiyu Awards, which is given to the most active voice actor in the year, and Soichiro Hoshi, who plays Kira Yamato, appeared at the awards ceremony held on March 15th at the Nippon Cultural Broadcasting Media Plus Hall (Minato-ku, Tokyo).
The series also attracted attention when a completely new movie version, "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom", was released in January last year, about 18 years after its production was announced. Hoshi said, "It was a year in which my wish finally came true. The Synergy Award is given to a work that allowed me to show off my charm as a voice actor, so I'm grateful that it allowed me to shine. I feel both congratulations and thank you for winning the award."
The Seiyuu Awards were established in 2006 and are co-sponsored by KADOKAWA, Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, and Shogakukan Shueisha Productions. The 14 categories other than MVS (Most Valuable Seiyu, the most active voice actor chosen by fans) are selected by the executive committee and the selection committee. The 19th awards will be open to voice actors who appeared in works broadcast, streamed, or released between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024.
