Towards the end of the story, Tsuruya, who really doesn't want Tsutaju to join them, explains to the "Yoshiwara Fathers" that the people who weren't with him today have told him that "Yoshiwara people" are vile villains, and there are people in the city who wish them nothing more than to stay out of it. With a smile on his face, he even says, "They don't even want to be in the same room as us."
Surugaya then became enraged. He dragged Tsuruya out of the room and pushed him down the stairs, saying, "Sorry, but I've never been in the same room as you guys." The other fathers followed Surugaya's lead, hurling threatening words at the local wholesalers one after another. Finally, Surugaya looked down at Tsuruya and delivered a powerful blow, saying, "Prepare yourself, you baby!"
