Details of the completely new film "GUNDAM: Next Universal Century" to be shown at the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION," a pavilion for the popular anime series "Gundam" at the Expo 2025(Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan ), were announced on February 21st. The pavilion will feature a film approximately 8 meters high and 18 meters deep, with Sony's haptic presentation technology, Haptic Floor, installed on the floor. The film, created with Unreal Engine 5, can be enjoyed in 360 degrees.
Takanori Tsujimoto , known for the special effects drama " Ultraman Arc ," will be the director, and Kunio Okawara, Mika Akitaka, Takashi Miyamoto, and Hajime Katoki will also be involved in mechanical design. This will be Tsujimoto's first time working on the "Gundam" series.
The cast includes Gaku Hamada, Tao Tsuchiya, Yuki Totsuka, Noboru Kaneda, Shinji Takeda, and Takumi Saito. The story is set in the year 2150, when a group of people take a tour of the giant space station Star Jaburo and ride an orbital elevator, but something strange happens to the space debris they are removing.
The announcement was made at the opening ceremony of the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE -FINAL-" event, which opened on February 21st at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangle Plaza (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo). Director Tsujimoto and Bandai Namco Filmworks producer Kentaro Morishita appeared on stage at the ceremony. Director Tsujimoto said, "It's like a dream to be involved with Gundam. It's also well-drawn as entertainment. Please look forward to it."The Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will be held from April 13th to October 13th at Yumeshima in Osaka.
