It has been announced that the comedy duo "Cacaloni" will be making a guest appearance on WOWOW's live broadcast of the European soccer tournament "UEFA Champions League (CL)" to be broadcast on January 30th. The two members of Cacaloni are known as soccer-loving comedians, and will liven up the CL, which is entering its final round in the league phase.
On the 30th, MatchDay8 will be the final match of the league phase, with all 18 matches kicking off at the same time. WOWOW will stream the "League Phase Matchday8 All 18 Matches Simultaneous Live Viewing Channel," which will feature live scores and standings, as well as footage from each match venue. Commentary will be provided by Yusuke Mimura, a freelance writer well versed in European football, and the event will be hosted by announcer Daigo Hara.
Kakaroni's Kuritani commented, "I never thought I would be given the opportunity to work on the Champions League! I am overwhelmed with emotion! When I was in middle and high school, I loved Milan and supported them! The memory of staying up late to watch the tragedy in Istanbul (I was a Milan fan) is still burned into my mind. I also remember how moved I was when they got their revenge in 2006-07. I am really happy to have the opportunity to share that excitement with everyone. Everyone, let's have fun together with us!!"
Sugaya said, "In the spring of my first year of junior high school, I stayed up late to watch my first Champions League match, when Figo scored a genius loop against Manchester United. 21 years have passed since then, and I'm very honored to be able to share the excitement of the Champions League, which has shown us so many miracles and dreams! I want to do my best to enjoy it so that people who stay up late watching alone will feel like they're watching with a friend and think, 'It's fun watching with this guy!'"
The "League Phase Matchday 8 All 18 Matches Simultaneous Live Viewing Channel" will be live streamed on WOWOW On Demand and the WOWOW Soccer Official YouTube Channel from 4:00 AM on January 30th. However, the match footage cannot be viewed on YouTube.
