It has been announced that the TV anime "This Monster Wants to Eat Me," based on the manga by Ai Naekawa, currently serialized in "Dengeki Maoh" (KADOKAWA) and other publications, will begin airing on TOKYO MX and other channels from October 2nd. The main visual and main promotional video featuring the main characters, Yaotome Hinako, Omi Shiori, and Yashiro Miku, have been released.
It was also announced that singer Yoshino will be performing the opening theme "Nie," written by Vocaloid producer Yurii Kanon. The ending theme will be "Lily," a character song for Yaotome Hinako, played by Reina Ueda.
Yoshino commented, "I wanted to express the love and obsession between two lonely people who yearn for each other so painfully, so I asked Yurii Kanon to write the song "Nie." I hope I can accompany the heart-wrenchingly beautiful and fleeting worldview. I hope you enjoy the song along with the anime."
To commemorate the anime adaptation, a special program "A Special Program to Commemorate the Anime Adaptation of ' This Monster Wants to Eat Me, the Monster' from Ehime," in which Ueda tours Ehime, the setting of the work, will be broadcast on AT-X and Ehime Asahi Television from September 25th. Ueda will talk with the original author, Naekawa, who lives in Ehime, at real locations that appear in the anime.
"This Monster Wants to Eat Me" is a manga that has been serialized in Dengeki Maoh since October 2020. Set in Ehime Prefecture, this suspense story depicts the beautiful yet tragic encounter between Hinako, a girl who wishes to die, and Shiori, a mermaid who desires her flesh and blood. Shiori protects Hinako until she reaches her peak maturity, promising to "one day eat her," and Hinako begins to feel a strong desire to "make her wish come true."
The anime will be produced by Studio Rings, with Naoyuki Kuzuya as general director and Yusuke Suzuki as director. Ueda will play Yaotome Hinako, Yui Ishikawa as Omi Shiori, and Fairouz Ai as Yashiro Miku.
