Distributor Toho announced that the movie "Doctor X: Final" (directed by Naoki Tamura), starring actress Ryoko Yonekura, has attracted 2.26 million viewers and grossed over 3 billion yen in the 45 days since its release. The milestone was reached in just a month and a half after its release on December 6th last year. The movie also achieved "no failures."
The film is the final installment of the popular drama series "Doctor X: Surgeon Daimon Michiko," which has been broadcast on TV Asahi since 2012. The screenwriter Miho Nakazono, Director Tamura and other staff who have led "Doctor X" for 12 years, along with the familiar cast, have come together to make the first film adaptation of the series, marking the final installment. The story reveals the "secret of the birth" of the main character, the genius surgeon Daimon Michiko (Yonekura), who "never fails."
The film has been much talked about as a "movie that will make you laugh and cry," and it has also been announced that a "tear-jerking and cheering screening" will be held at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) and TOHO Cinemas Namba (Chuo-ku, Osaka) on January 24th. In preparation for the tear-jerking and cheering screening, a "tear-jerking and cheering screening instruction video" has also been released on YouTube, in which Hara Mamoru, played by Suzuki Kosuke, serves as the "supervising doctor."
