The final results of the "MG Runoff Vote 2025" voting project for the "MG" series of Gunpla (Bandai Spirits) from the popular anime "Gundam" have been announced, with the "MG 1/100 PLAN303E Deep Striker" winning first place, creating a buzz. The Deep Striker is a machine born from the "Gundam Sentinel" project of the "Gundam" series. We will explain about the Deep Striker.
◇The concept is invasion and base fleet attack
The Deep Striker is one of the upgrade plans for the MSA-0011 S Gundam submitted by Anaheim Electronics to the Earth Federation Forces. The S Gundam was developed by Anaheim with the aim of creating the "ultimate Gundam," and numerous variations were planned. The Deep Striker was also considered as one of the upgrade plans, but an actual machine was never built and it remained just a paper plan.
The Deep Striker's development concept was "invasion, base fleet attack," aiming to advance into enemy lines with explosive acceleration and break through at a single point with its main guns. It is equipped with a mega particle cannon equivalent to the main guns of the Argama and Irish classes, giving it the offensive power of a battleship. It is also equipped with a sub-generator to assist operation, a total of 10 main nozzles, and a multi-sensor unit with search capabilities comparable to those of EWAC aircraft (reconnaissance aircraft). It is also equipped with an I-field generator to protect the pilot and aircraft.
Its weight was ridiculous, and to accommodate it, additional propellant tanks and conformal booster units were also included. It was so huge that it resembled more of an MA (Mobile Armor) than an MS (Mobile Suit). Its large size, complexity, and luxurious equipment led to soaring development costs, and it appears to have ended up remaining a paper plan.
◇It has a very heavy feel!
The "MG 1/100 PLAN303E Deep Striker" was released in 2018 to commemorate the 200th model in the "MG" series. The mega particle cannon measures an impressive 54cm, and the large disk radome and multi-sensors are also reproduced. The cylinder parts in various parts of the aircraft are plated to give it a sense of solidity. Although it was a high-priced Gunpla at 22,000 yen (at the time of release), it became a popular product.
The "MG Runoff Vote 2025" is a project to decide which products in the "MG" series will be re-released by voting. The voting period was from July 7th to 31st, and a total of approximately 310,000 votes were cast. The winner, "MG 1/100 PLAN303E Deep Striker", will be sold by lottery from 11pm on August 27th on Bandai Namco Group's shopping site, Premium Bandai. We hope you will get your hands on this amazing Gunpla.
