It was revealed on January 9th that model and actor Rinka Kumada, the best friend of the protagonist, high school girl Nanoka Hara(played by Hara), who suddenly becomes able to see spirits one day.
It was also announced that Nae Nano will play the role of Nikuredo Yuria, and Yamashita Koki will play the role of Gondo Akio, an original character for the film, as two of Miko's friends.
Kumada commented, "I myself am actually very bad with horror, so I remember being relieved when I heard that the director also doesn't like horror. The new setting, in which the main character Miko pretends not to see spirits, and the unique character of Hana, played by me, whose appetite increases every time a spirit possesses her, made me find a strange movie that was scary yet interesting! The set was so bright that I wondered if we were really filming a horror movie, and I was able to enjoy filming my first horror project. I hope that this summer's youth horror will provide you with an experience that is scary but also funny!"
The movie is based on the horror comedy manga by Izumi Tomoki, which has sold over 3 million copies in Japan and was also made into a TV anime. One day, high school girl Yotsuya Miko (Hara) suddenly starts seeing spirits, and chooses to "ignore" them. Terrified of the fear of what might happen if the spirits realize she can see them, Miko continues to pretend to be calm and ignore them. However, when the shadow of a spirit creeps up on even her best friend, will Miko be able to continue ignoring the spirits? This is the story.
The film is scheduled to be released in early summer 2025. Interview footage of Kumada, Nae Nano, and Yamashita has been released on the official YouTube channel.
