The Sunday Theatre drama " Mikami Sensei " (TBS, Sundays 9pm) starring actor Tori Matsuzaka Tori will begin airing on January 19th, and will feature a relay introduction of the 29 unique students in class 3-2 at Rintoku Gakuen, where Mikami (Matsuzaka) is the homeroom teacher, in order of their attendance numbers. The fourth instalment will feature an introduction of the six students with attendance numbers 19 to 24, along with their own comments. Student introduction videos are also available on the drama's official SNS.

The cast members introduced this time are Kenta Jigen (played by Airu Kubozuka), Shiori Togakushi (played by Maru Nouchi), Tokumori Jin (played by Rintaro Hachimura), Aoi Tominaga (played by Aju Makita), Chika Nagura (played by Aoi Shirakura) and Yuu Hatano (played by Takeyuki Mayumi).

"Mikami Sensei" is about Takashi Mikami (Matsuzaka), a bureaucrat in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology who wants to change the Japanese education system. He is ordered to transfer to a private high school called Rintoku Gakuin. In reality, it was a demotion given to an elite bureaucrat, but Mikami believes that he cannot change the system even if he is on the side that creates it, so he should speak up from the field and destroy the system from within. He stands at the podium himself, guiding 18-year-old high school students living in the Reiwa era and confronting power... This is a "great reversal story of education revival."

The completely original series will be written by Shimori Roba, who will be teaming up with Matsuzaka for the first time since the film "The Journalist," and will be in charge of the script for a primetime drama series for the first time. Kazutaka Iida, who has been in charge of the popular Sunday Theatre series "Anti-Hero" (2024) and "VIVANT" (2023), will serve as producer.
