The 66th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Omusubi " starring Kanna Hashimoto (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 am and others) was broadcast on January 6th. Hearing the theme song "Illumination" by rock group "B'z" that plays during the opening title sequence of the drama, many viewers were reminded of B'z's performance at the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen Gassen on New Year's Eve last year.
As previously announced, B'z appeared on the Red and White Song Battle, broadcast on New Year's Eve last year, and performed "Illumination." After singing "Illumination" in the studio, the two members of B'z walked out and made a surprise appearance on the stage of the NHK Hall, where the audience was waiting, and sang "LOVE PHANTOM" and "Ultra Soul." The entire audience stood up, and the host, Hashimoto, was thrilled, saying, "This is too good. What a surprise."
On social media, people were saying things like, "It's crazy, every time I hear B'z's Illumination, the excitement of the Red and White Song Battle comes back to me," "I'll watch the recording again," "I've been totally crazy about B'z ever since the Red and White Song Battle," "I feel like I'm still basking in the afterglow of the Red and White Song Battle," and "The theme song sounds different because it's after the Red and White Song Battle."
