It has been revealed that LDH JAPAN, the studio representing dance and vocal groups EXILE and J SOUL BROTHERS III, has launched a new brand called LDH Animation, with anime production at its core. As an anime studio, the brand will produce works, develop planning and licensing businesses, and aim to expand into the digital realm, delivering Japanese anime to the world.
The anime production will include original works and works based on comics and novels, and will also utilize the CG technology of group company LDH DIGITAL, which has been a strength of the company. The licensing business will also include the team that planned and produced the "BATTLE OF TOKYO Ultra Tokyo Expansion Exhibition" and "BATTLE OF TOKYO Wafers," which were held at SHIBUYA TSUTAYA (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) from May 2024. The company will focus on forming anime production committees, investing in anime theme songs, licensing characters and works, and promoting merchandising projects.
Hoshino Koji, who served as president and CEO of Walt Disney Japan and Studio Ghibli, and Ibaraki Masahiko, who served as the eighth editor-in-chief of "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) and Shueisha's senior managing director, will serve as advisors. LDH DIGITAL will merge with LDH JAPAN on January 1, and LDH DIGITAL's animation production, CG production, and production functions will be taken over by LDH Animation.
