On December 21, Takuya Kimura appeared at the red carpet event for his starring movie "Grand Maison Paris" (directed by Tsukahara Ayuko, to be released on December 30), held at Kabukicho Cinecity Square (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo). When it was announced that the movie would be released in Paris, France, where the movie was set, on January 8 next year, Kimura expressed his joy, saying, "I'm grateful that the movie will be released in the city and country where it was set."
Upon hearing the announcement, Oikawa Mitsuhiro said, "It's being released in Paris! I'm a little worried about our French," to which Kimura nodded and said, "Mitch (Oikawa) is also worried, but we're not sure whether the French we express in the film will be properly conveyed to the audience." He then humorously called out, "I would like someone to let me know (whether it was understood)," drawing laughter from the audience.
Kimura, Suzuki Kyoka, Oikawa, Sawamura Ikki and others watched the first preview of the film together. Oikawa revealed, "After the end credits, there was a warm round of applause from the preview room. When the lights came on and I looked next to me, Kyo-chan was crying. I just loved her and thought, what a cute person she is." Suzuki responded, "Oikawa had tears in his eyes, and Sawamura's tears were shining beautifully. We all hugged Kimura and there was a big commotion, and I was really touched."
Kimura said, "The staff and cast who were on set all watched it at the same time, and it was a strange feeling to be able to applaud so honestly for a work that we had been involved in." He expressed his gratitude, saying, "The moment the end credits finished rolling, the words "Director" Tsukahara Ayuko" appeared on the screen and disappeared, and the light came into the screening room, I just had to say thank you to everyone, so I asked everyone to shake my hand to say thank you."
The film "Grand Maison Paris" is a film adaptation of the popular drama "Grand Maison Tokyo," which aired on TBS's Sunday Theatre slot (Sundays at 9 p.m.) in 2019, with Kimura playing an unconventional genius chef. The drama follows the story of a genius chef, Obana Natsuki (Kimura), who loses his restaurant and all his friends in a serious incident brought about by his own arrogance, and his efforts to create "Grand Maison Tokyo," the world's best three-star restaurant, in Tokyo, together with his former colleagues.
The film depicts the passionate challenge of "Team Grand Maison," a new restaurant launched by Obana and Noriko (Suzuki) in Paris, the home of French cuisine, aiming to become the first Asian chef to receive a Michelin three-star rating. A completely new special drama of "Grand Maison Tokyo" will be broadcast from 9:00 pm on the 29th.
Also attending the event were Ok Taecyeon, Ae! group's Masakado Ryosuke, Kis-My-Ft2's Tamamori Yuta, Kanichiro, Yoshitani Ayako, Nakamura Anne, Kazuki Kitamura, and Director Tsukahara. Tominaga Ai was absent due to poor health.
