Actor Toshiyuki Nishida passes away at age 76

It was announced on October 17th that actor Nishida Toshiyuki had passed away. He was 76 years old.

On October 8th, Nishida appeared in good health at a press conference announcing the completion of the movie "Doctor X: The Movie," which will be released on December 6th. The movie is the final installment of the popular drama series "Doctor X: Surgeon Daimon Michiko" (TV Asahi), and Nishida, who played the villain Hiruma Shigekatsu for many years, commented sadly, "When I thought that this was the time to say goodbye to the role of Hiruma Shigekatsu, I felt a little lonely... That's how I felt."

"As an actor, I get to play various roles, but the role of Hiruma Shigekatsu is in my top five favorite roles. I wanted to stay as Hiruma Shigekatsu forever... I somehow felt like I didn't want it to end," he said, his voice trembling at the end.

Born on November 4th, 1947. Born in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture. In 1970, he joined the Seinenza Theatre Company and began his career as an actor, appearing in numerous dramas and films. This year, he also appeared in TBS's Sunday Theatre "Goodbye Maestro: My Father and I's Appassionato" which aired in January, and TV Asahi's 65th Anniversary Drama Premium "The Town We Saw in the End", which aired in September.
