It has been announced that Megumi Ogata will be appearing as a voice actor in the TV anime "Ao no Miburo," which is based on a manga about the Shinsengumi by Yasuda Takeshi, who is known for the soccer manga "DAYS." Ogata will play a boy named Kikuchiyo. Kikuchiyo is the future Shogun Tokugawa Iemochi, and is targeted for assassination in the turbulent city of Kyoto, and is escorted by the Miburo soldiers. As they risk their lives to escape the brink of death, the protagonist Oto and Kikuchiyo form a strong bond.

Ogata commented, "The Shogun is young, but he is said to have been a charming person who was loved by everyone. Reading the fascinating original work, which gives off a stronger impression of that, I was worried about how I would play the role, but with the help of everyone at Miburo and the warm staff, I am doing my best (laughs). It's a fresh Shinsengumi story that is fitting for the Reiwa era. Please look forward to it!" "Ao no Miburo" has been serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) since 2021. Set in Kyoto at the end of the Edo period, it depicts the way of life of the Shinsengumi. The story follows Chirinunio, a boy who is honest, kind, and family-oriented, but who also has a burning desire for justice deep in his heart, as he meets Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Souji of the Mibu-nami, a hated group of ronin.

The anime will be directed by Habara Kumiko, who has also worked on "I'm Standing on a Million Lives," and produced by MAHO FILM. It will be broadcast on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV every Saturday at 5:30 pm from October 19th.
