The serial drama " The Great Chase: Metropolitan Police Department SSBC Violent Crimes Unit " (TV Asahi, Wednesdays at 9pm), starring Nao Omori, Masaki Aiba and Nao Matsushita , will start on July Getsuku. The story is set in the Metropolitan Police Department's Criminal Investigation Support and Analysis Center (SSBC), a newly established unit in charge of violent crimes, responsible for collecting and analyzing security camera footage, analyzing smartphones and computers, and profiling criminals. Omori plays Igaki Shuji, a former detective from the First Investigation Division who is responsible for mobile analysis at the SSBC Violent Crimes Division, Aiba plays Nanami Rintaro, a career officer seconded to the SSBC Violent Crimes Division whose uncle is the Chief Cabinet Secretary, and Matsushita plays Aoyagi Haruka, the head of the First Investigation Division and Igaki's ex-wife.
The cast is filled with talented actors, including Atsushi Ito as Kizawa Osamu, an information analyst in the SSBC Violent Crimes Unit, Ken Mitsuishi as Kuzuhara Shigeru, the section chief in charge of the SSBC Violent Crimes Unit, Kenichi Endo as Yaegashi Masao, the Showa-era head of the First Investigative Division, and Koichi Sato as Kuze Shunsuke, former Commissioner General of the National Police Agency and current Chief Cabinet Secretary.
In the first episode, Kiryu (Kubozuka Shunsuke), the president of a venture IT company, is stabbed to death by someone, and Nanami, who has just been assigned to the SSBC Violent Crimes Division, and Igaki, his "trainer," head to the scene. While Igaki begins collecting security camera footage from the area as usual, Nanami tries to go through the police line to identify the body, but is chased away from the scene by Haruka, the head of the First Investigation Division and Igaki's "archenemy."
It is later revealed that Vice President Tamai (Nakamura Shunsuke) was also attacked at the same time as Kiryu. Tamai's testimony brings game programmer Kawase (Hamano Kenta) into the investigation, and the First Investigation Division begins questioning him. Meanwhile, SSBC's Violent Crimes Unit uses security cameras in Tokyo and their unique authentication system to discover a "man dressed in black who is believed to be the culprit." The first episode will be extended by 10 minutes and will air from 9:00 PM to 10:04 PM.
