The character visuals for the movie "Bomb" (released October 31st), starring actor Yuki Yamada, were unveiled on July Getsuku. Eight visuals were released, including photos of the faces of seven actors, including Yamada, in their character costumes, combined with the title and individual cuts. This is the first time the visuals of Sairi Ito, Sometani Shota, Ryota Bando, Kanichiro, and Atsuro Watabe have been released, and it was also the first time that Bando and Kanichiro were revealed to be appearing.
The original work is a best-selling novel of the same name by Wu Sheng-ho, which won two awards in the "This Mystery is Amazing! 2023 Edition" and "I Want to Read Mystery 2023 Edition" (Kodansha). The live-action version was made by director Nagai So, who has worked on "Teiichi no Kuni" (2017), "Love is Like After the Rain" (2018), and "Character" (2021), and depicts the battle between Suzuki Tagosaku, a middle-aged man who claims to have psychic powers and predicts the presence of a bomb planted in Tokyo, and the police who search for the location of the bomb.
Yamada plays Ruike, a negotiator attached to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Division who confronts Suzuki Tagosaku (Sato Jiro). Ito plays Koda, a police officer working at a police box who is busy searching for the bomb, Sometani plays Todoroki, a local detective who is investigating Suzuki Tagosaku's past, and Watanabe plays Kiyomiya, Ruike's boss and also a negotiator.
Bando, who was announced as an additional cast member, will play Yabuki, a police sergeant working at the police box and a partner of Koda, played by Ito, and Kanichiro will play Ise, a detective who keeps an eye on Suzuki Tagosaku.
The character visuals feature detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department, both in plain clothes and suits, and in uniform working at a local police box, all of whom are involved in the case in their respective roles, and the eyes and expressions of these characters are impressive cuts that speak louder than their words.
Comments from Bando and Kanichiro are as follows.
◇Comment from Ryota Bando(role of Yabuki)
The role of Yabuki is a "buddy" relationship with Koda Sara, played by Ito-san, so I talked with Director Nagai to create the atmosphere between the two of them. Ito-san is a very calming person to be around, and I felt like we had the same vibe. I had a photo taken of me and Ito-san wearing police uniforms, side by side, and I thought it gave off a good buddy vibe. It's not like I turn on a switch when I put it on, but it naturally straightens my back, so it helped me get into character. I'm sure the main story will be interesting and a cool movie. It's a blockbuster that's packed with a variety of entertainment elements, such as realistic explosion scenes and brain-battling dialogue!
◇Comment from Kanichiro(role of Ise)
Although there is a team that goes outside to search for the bomb, the majority of the story takes place in a single situation in the interrogation room, which I think is a rare work that turns into entertainment. The character I played, Ise, played the role of a scribe who recorded what happened in the interrogation room, and while being in the same space, it felt like I was watching the on-the-spot acting battle from the best seat in a small theater, so it was a luxurious time to be able to see my seniors' acting up close. While inheriting the good points of the original novel, the 3D nature adds a powerful impact that only a movie can provide, and I think that fans of the original novel will be amazed by the scenes, so please enjoy it at the theater!
