It has been announced that Tsubokura Yukiyuki of the comedy trio "Wagaya", as well as actors Nakamura Yuri and Katsumura Masanobu, will appear in the drama series "My Diary" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sundays at 10:15pm), which begins on October 20th. Tsubokura and the others will play important roles, watching over the five main characters, Yuki (Kiyohara Kaya), Hiromi (Sano Hayato), Mahiru (Yoshikawa Ai), Airi (Mikami Ai) and Toranosuke (Mochizuki Ayumu), from their own positions.
Tsubokura will play Sugiyama Jiro, the manager of the family restaurant where Toranosuke works part-time. He is a calm and humorous character who watches over the five young people, Yuki and Toranosuke, from afar, and his chuckle-inducing exchanges with Toranosuke add colour to the drama.
Nakamura will play Tomita Midori, Yuki's neighbour in the apartment where she lives alone. Midori, whom Yuki calls "Mr. Tom," is a unique character who appears out of nowhere and leaves behind a meaningful message. Although he has a nonchalant personality, he always makes Yuki feel at ease. However, he has a "secret" that he has not told Yuki.
Katsumura plays Yoshihiro Kida, a professor in the mathematics department of the Faculty of Science at Joetsu University, where Yuki and his friends attend. He has always been concerned about Hiromi, with whom he has connected through mathematics, and is like a "mentor in life" to Hiromi. When he found out that Hiromi, who had been said to be a math genius, had failed at university in the United States, he encouraged him to transfer to a Japanese university.
It was also announced that Aizawa Sota will play Tanaka Haruto, an elementary school student who Yuki is tutored by, Nishihara Aki will play Tanaka Sayo, his mother, Niihara Taisuke will play Mori Kazuma, Yuki's boyfriend, Suzuki Kosuke will play Sato Ren, a student in the same mathematics department as Hiromi, and Korenaga Hitomi will play Okawa Misuzu, a regular customer at the family restaurant where Toranosuke works.
"My Diary" is a human drama with an original script starring Kiyohara. The story follows the protagonist, a first-year working adult, as he looks back on important memories triggered by trivial events in his daily life, and nostalgically depicts five men and women who spent their university days together. The insert song has been decided to be "Gunjo Nikki" by singer-songwriter Mori Taito.
