The second season of the new TV anime "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story", based on the popular manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki, entitled "Kyoto Disturbance", will begin airing on Fuji TV's late-night anime slot "Noitamina" and elsewhere from October 3rd. It will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons. In the second season, the setting moves from Tokyo to Kyoto, depicting Himura Kenshin's new encounters and his fierce battles with Shishio Makoto's group.

"Rurouni Kenshin" is a popular manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1994 to 1999. It depicts Himura Kenshin, who was feared as the assassin Battousai during the late Edo period, as a wanderer who has sworn not to kill after the Meiji Restoration, searching for a way of life in the new era. The new chapter, "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story: Hokkaido Arc", has been serialized in the monthly manga magazine "Jump SQ." (Shueisha) since 2017.

The new anime will be fully supervised by the original author Watsuki, from character design to the scenario, and will reconstruct the original work from the first episode onwards. The first season aired from July to December 2023.

In the 25th episode "To Kyoto", the first episode of the second season, Kenshin, who has decided to fight Shishio and left Kamiya Dojo, walks alone along the Tokaido road to Kyoto, making sure not to involve anyone in the fight. After Kenshin says goodbye to her, Kaoru is overcome with sadness and becomes depressed. Meanwhile, as Sanosuke and Yahiko try to follow Kenshin to Kyoto, Saito Hajime stands in their way, telling them, "This is not your place."
