The third season of the TV anime "Re:ZERO − Starting Life in Another World (Re:ZERO)", based on the light novel from MF Bunko J (KADOKAWA), will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and 21 other stations nationwide from October 2nd. After the trials in the "Sanctuary" depicted in the second season, in the third season, Emilia, Natsuki, Subaru and others will once again face a harsh fate in the water gate city of Pristella. The third season will consist of 16 episodes, including the "Attack Arc" (8 episodes) and the "Counterattack Arc" (8 episodes). The first episode of the "Attack Arc" (episode 51), "Theatrical Malice", will be broadcast as a 90-minute special.
"Re:ZERO" is based on a light novel written by Nagatsuki Tappei and illustrated by Otsuka Shinichiro. The story is about high school student Subaru being summoned to another world, where he gains the ability to rewind time when he dies. The first season of the TV anime aired from April to September 2016, the first half of the second season from July to September 2020, and the second half from January to March 2021.
Episode 51, "Theatrical Malice," is set one year after the battle at the Sanctuary. Emilia's camp is united and Subaru is living a fulfilling life. However, their peaceful daily lives come to an end with a single letter. Joshua and Mimi, who have come as emissaries for Anastasia, deliver an invitation to the watergate city of Pristella. There, they find a merchant who has the magic stone that Emilia has been looking for as a new vessel for Puck. Subaru and his friends set off for Pristella, where they find a familiar face waiting for them.
