It has been announced that Morita Hikaru, a member of the idol group Sakurazaka46, has been appointed as the promotional ambassador for the TV anime Ao no Hako, which is based on the popular manga by Miura Koji that is currently being serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha).

Morita, who is known to be a fan of manga and anime among the group, has been a fan of Ao no Hako since the original manga, and has long listed it as one of her favorite manga. The anime will be broadcast on 28 TBS affiliates from October 3rd, and Morita will be promoting the series on TBS programs and social media in the lead-up to the broadcast. She is also scheduled to appear on King's Brunch, which will air on September 28th, and on a TBS information program on October 3rd.

Morita commented, "I've been reading the original manga for a long time, and I really liked it, so I'm very happy. I hope to take this opportunity to convey the charms of Ao no Hako to those who are watching it for the first time and to fans of the original work. Let's enjoy Ao no Hako together!"

"Ao no Hako" is a youthful club love story set at Sakae Mei High School, a powerhouse of sports throughout junior and senior high school, where Inomata Daiki, a member of the boys' badminton club, falls in love with Shikano Chinatsu, a senior member of the girls' basketball club. The story delicately depicts the earnestness of the life-sized characters as they devote themselves to their club activities with their own feelings in mind, and the emotional nuances of "falling in love with someone." The series began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2021. The comics have sold over 5 million copies in total.

In the anime, Chiba Shoya will play the protagonist Inomata Daiki, and Ueda Reina will play Shikano Chinatsu. The anime will be produced by Telecom Animation Film, the studio behind the Lupin III series. It will be broadcast on 28 TBS affiliates every Thursday at 11:56 p.m. starting October 3rd.
