It has been announced that the movie version of "Revolutionary Girl Utena," an anime that gained popularity mainly in the 1990s, "Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Apocalypse of the Adolescence," will be screened again at Tachikawa Cinema City (Tachikawa, Tokyo) from October 11th. The movie will be a "superb sound screening" to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the theatrical release in 1999, and will be available for a limited time until October 17th.
On October 12th during the screening period, there will also be a superb sound screening with a staff talk show featuring director Kunihiko Ikuhara and Chiho Saito.
The story of "Revolutionary Girl Utena" is that Tenjou Utena, a cross-dressing female student who transfers to the prestigious boarding school Ohtori Academy, meets Himemiya Anthy, a mysterious beautiful girl known as the Bride of the Rose, and becomes involved in a duel game in which players compete to win the "power to revolutionize the world." The TV anime was broadcast in 1997, and the movie version was released in 1999.
