Hirano Remi, a 77-year-old cooking enthusiast, will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), broadcasting at 1 pm on September 23rd. It has been five years since her beloved husband, illustrator Wada Makoto, passed away at the age of 83. When he passed away, she felt only a sense of loss, and even now, when she is late at work, she finds herself worrying about her husband's meals.
But recently, Hirano has changed her way of thinking. She says she is glad that she passed away first and did not have to make her husband go through such pain.
She starts her day by offering tea to a portrait of his deceased loved one, and spends her time at home surrounded by photographs and mementos. On this episode of the show, she will introduce everyday utensils and plates with Wada's illustrations, as well as a sweater that was given to her. Among the items is a note written in Wada's handwriting, gently reprimanding Hirano as he speaks loudly on the phone.
