The 35th episode of the NHK Taiga drama "To You, Shining" (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring Yoshitaka Yuriko, entitled "The Empress's Tears," aired on September 15th, and viewers were drawn to the somewhat ominous finale.
In the 35th episode, Michinaga (Emoto Tasuku) goes to Mt. Ontake with his son Yorimichi (Watanabe Keisuke) to pray for the pregnancy of the Empress Shoshi (Migami Ai).
However, plagued by the steep journey and bad weather, they have difficulty reaching their destination, Kinpusenji Temple, when Ise (Miura Shohei) makes some ominous moves with his warriors... Meanwhile, Emperor Ichijo (Shiono Akihisa), who has become interested in the stories Mahiro (Yoshitaka) is writing, asks her about the true meaning of the stories and compares them to his own circumstances.
Furthermore, upon learning Akiko's true feelings, Mahiro gives her the advice, "Chugujo-sama, why don't you tell the emperor that you want to be his true wife?" and "Please tell the emperor what is really in your heart."
Then, in front of Emperor Ichijo, Shoshi says in tears, "Your Majesty, I adore you!"
Although shaken by Akiko's sudden confession, Emperor Ichijo is moved and finally accepts Akiko... and so the story unfolds.
Towards the end, Michinaga and Mahiro exchange words while gazing up at the moon. Michinaga says in relief, "Ah, that's good," and the two smile at each other, but a figure peeks in on them.
It appears that this was Saemon's lady-in-waiting (played by Kanno Rio), who serves Akiko as her lady-in-waiting, and viewers responded on social media with comments such as, "In the end, it wasn't the housekeeper who saw it, but the 'wife'," "The housekeeper (wife) saw it," and "She was being spied on -- the wife saw it." Comments like, "Oh, I didn't see something scary," "Mahiro, look behind you!" "Michinaga! Mahiro! Behind you! Behind you!" and "It's scary, it's scary in so many ways!" were also heard one after another.
