The NHK Taiga drama "To You, Shining" (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others) stars actress Yoshitaka Yuriko. The subtitle of the 36th episode, which will be broadcast on September 22nd, is "The Long-Awaited Day," and the synopsis and scene cuts have been released.

◇Spoilers below

"To You, Shining" is the 63rd Taiga drama. Set in the aristocratic society of the mid-Heian period, the protagonist is Murasaki Shikibu (Mahiro), who later wrote "The Tale of Genji," said to be the world's oldest novel written by a woman. The script was written by Oishi Shizuka, who is writing a Taiga drama for the second time since "Koumyou ga Tsuji" in 2006, and depicts the glittering world of Heian aristocrats and the life of a woman who lived, wrote, and loved with all her heart.

In the 36th episode, Emperor Ichijo's (Shiono Akihisa) Empress Shoshi (Migami Ai) finally becomes pregnant. As the palace becomes abuzz, Mahiro (Yoshitaka) is told by Akiko about her true feelings towards the emperor.

Meanwhile, Sei Shonagon (First Summer Uika) finds out that Mahiro wrote the story at the behest of Michinaga (Emoto Tasuku) and appeals to Ise (Miura Shohei). As the birth date draws nearer, Akiko grows anxious and relies on Mahiro.

While the other ladies-in-waiting are jealous, Michinaga asks for a new consultation... and so the story unfolds.
