It has been announced that Junya Enoki, Yoko Hikasa, and Showtaro Morikubo will appear as voice actors in Dragon Ball DAIMA, a completely new series based on the popular Dragon Ball anime series, which is based on the late Akira Toriyama's manga. They will play new characters that appear in the trailer, with Enoki as Degesu, who resembles Kaiōshin, Hikasa as Dr. Arins, who has a mysterious smile, and Morikubo as Gomar.

Enoki commented, "I heard I got the role a while after the audition, so I was surprised and happy, thinking, 'I've been chosen!' With Toriyama himself writing the story, the previous Dragon Ball will be carried over to the new Reiwa Dragon Ball DAIMA, which will be 100% Dragon Ball and will be enjoyable for both adults and children. I hope everyone will check it out."

Hikasa said, "It was a bolt from the blue when I was informed that I was going to play Dr. Arins. I was more surprised than happy. I was like, 'Why?! How?! Are you okay?!' I watched Dragon Ball as a child and now that I'm an adult, I know it's still at the forefront of animation, so I hope Dragon Ball will still be around in 20 or 30 years. I hope people will watch Dragon Ball DAIMA again and again so that the Dragon Ball baton can be passed on from family to family, and I hope they will look forward to it."

Morikubo said, "I've been familiar with Dragon Ball so much that I remember when the manga and anime first started, so I was really happy to be involved and thought, 'I can be in it!' It's a luxurious production, so I hope you enjoy the lavish story and the cast. Goku and his friends are going to be in big trouble this time!" It was also announced that Grammy Award-winning American artist Zedd, who sang the opening theme "Jaka☆Jaaan," and singer AI will be in charge of the ending theme "NAKAMA." The new song was written with the respect and love each of them has for Dragon Ball in mind, and was inspired by the adventures of the group of friends (NAKAMA). Zedd and AI composed the music, while AI wrote the lyrics and sang. AI said, "When I first saw the teaser video and heard that a new one was about to start, I was like, wow! That's amazing! I'm looking forward to it, and then they said, 'Oh my God! This ending has been decided!'... What?... What the heck?!?!?!?!?! I started crying. I was so happy, or rather, like, seriously!! Seriously?! I still can't let my guard down until it airs, but I'm so happy that I want to tell my kids and my friends who are Dragon Ball fans as soon as possible... Anyway, I'm so grateful. I'm glad I kept singing." AI, a member of the singer-songwriter unit C&K, who will be singing the opening theme, will appear at the screening and stage greeting of the first episode of "Dragon Ball DAIMA" at the "Dragon Ball Daimatsuri" 40th anniversary event to be held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo) in October to perform the theme song.

"Dragon Ball DAIMA" is an anime commemorating the 40th anniversary of "Dragon Ball". The original author Toriyama, who passed away in March this year due to acute subdural hematoma, was in charge of the story, character design, settings, etc. This will be the first new anime series in about six years since "Dragon Ball Super," which ended its broadcast in March 2018. It will be broadcast from October 11th in Fuji TV's new anime time slot at 11:40 pm every Friday.

"Dragon Ball" is a popular work that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1984 to 1995.
