"Drama 1 Week" introduces the major drama news of the week. This time (August 31st to September 6th), the "baton-passing" ceremony for the NHK morning drama series was held on the 4th at the NHK Osaka Broadcasting Station (Chuo-ku, Osaka City), and it was attended by Sari Ito, the heroine of the currently airing "Wings on a Tiger," and Kanna Hashimoto, who will star in "Omusubi," which starts on the 30th. It was also talked about that the sequel to "The Travel Nurse" will start in October, and that the "strongest eccentric nurse duo" starring Masaki Okada and Kiichi Nakai will be making a comeback for the first time in about two years. This will be covered in two parts.

It was announced on September 4th that the sequel to "The Travel Nurse," a TV Asahi drama starring Masaki Okada that aired in October 2022, will start on October 17th in the same Thursday drama slot (Thursdays at 9pm). Nakai Kiichi will also be reprising his role, and the "strongest eccentric nurse duo" will be making a comeback for the first time in about two years. In the previous series, Nasuda Ayumu (Okada), a freelance "travel nurse" with a nursing qualification "nurse practitioner" that allows him to perform certain medical procedures, and Kuki Shizuka (Nakai Kiichi), a skilled "super nurse," were depicted as joining hands despite their differences to reform the medical field. In the new series, in addition to the chronic shortage of doctors, there are also significant restrictions on overtime hours due to work style reforms, and the two will take on a new battle in an increasingly chaotic place where life is at stake. It was revealed on the 4th that before the final episode (broadcast on September 15th) of "Black Pean Season 2," a drama starring Ninomiya Kazunari that is currently being broadcast on TBS's "Sunday Theater" slot (Sunday 9pm), a two-hour special program "All-Star Dream Collaboration! Ninomiya Kazunari x Medalist Ultimate Two-Choice Show! THE High & Low" will be broadcast live from 7pm on the same day. Ninomiya and other star-studded cast members are scheduled to appear live on the special program.

It was announced on the 4th that Vaundy's new song "Fujin" will be the theme song for the October drama "Lion's Lair" (TBS, Friday 10pm) starring Yagira Yuya. This is the first time that Vaundy will be in charge of the theme song for a TBS drama. "Fujin" is a new song written specifically by Vaundy, who has released a string of hits such as "Time Paradox" and "Homunculus." "Lion's Lair" is a human suspense drama in which Komori Hiroto (played by Yagira) and his younger brother Michito (played by Bando Ryuta), who has autism spectrum disorder, meet a mysterious boy (Sato Ozora) who calls himself "Lion" and become embroiled in an incident.

The "passing of the baton" ceremony for the NHK morning drama series was held on the 4th at the NHK Osaka Broadcasting Station (Chuo-ku, Osaka City), and was attended by Ito Sari, the heroine of the currently airing "Tiger and Wings," and Hashimoto Kanna, who will star in "Omusubi," which starts on the 30th. This was the first time the two met. Ito presented Hashimoto with a frying pan and cutlery set made in Niigata Prefecture, one of the settings for "Tiger and Wings." Hashimoto presented Ito with an assortment of agricultural products from Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture, the first setting for "Omusubi." Hashimoto suggested a dinner party, saying, "We have the ingredients, and we were given cutlery and a frying pan." Ito smiled and said, "That would be the best."

On the 5th, it was revealed that Shiraishi Mai will appear in the October drama series "Okura" (Fuji TV, Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m.), co-starring Sorimachi Takashi and Sugino Yosuke. She will play Yuki Rinko, a former delinquent female detective who is competitive and good at fighting. This will be Shiraishi's second time playing a detective role since "Kazama Koshin - Kyojo 0" (2023, Fuji TV). The drama depicts the detectives belonging to the department known as "Okura," which pursues unsolved cases that have essentially been "shelved," as they take on difficult cases, focusing on a generation gap buddy duo from the Showa and Reiwa eras. Rinko, played by Shiraishi, is rumored to have sent 30 yakuza to the hospital in the "Organized Crime Control Division" (organized crime countermeasures department) where she was a member before Okura.

Actor Rio Teramoto updated her Instagram on the 5th. She announced that she will be appearing in the NHK morning drama "Omusubi," starring Kanna Hashimoto, which starts on the 30th. Teramoto wrote, "I will be appearing as Asuka Okawachi, a former Tenjin Otome-kai gal who was in conflict with the legendary gal Ayumu Yoneda, played by Riisa Naka. I am very happy to be appearing in this traditional morning drama. Please look forward to the broadcast," and posted a photo of her in costume along with the program logo.

It was revealed on the 6th that rock band B'z will be performing the theme song for the morning drama "Omusubi." B'z members Takahiro Matsumoto and Koshi Inaba commented, "Live your life crying, laughing, crossing mountains and valleys, and when you reach a place, illuminations filled with radiance and selfless love await you. We created the theme song for "Omusubi" with this hope in mind. We hope you will enjoy it along with the bright and energetic drama." The story of "Omusubi" is about the heroine Yoneda Yui (Hashimoto), who was born on the day the era name changed to "Heisei", growing up as a gal in Fukuoka, and aiming to become a registered dietitian in Kansai due to a certain incident.

On the 6th, TVer started streaming "Look Back and He's There" (Fuji TV), which was broadcast in 1993 and co-starred Oda Yuji and Ishiguro Ken. This is the first time it has been streamed on TVer as part of TVer's regular "Classic Drama Special". "Look Back and He's There" was the first time that Mitani Koki has worked on a full-scale serial drama. Ishikawa Gen (Ishiguro), a righteous doctor, and Shiba Kotaro (Oda), a surgeon with genius skills but a cold personality, clash violently as they are unable to understand each other's ideals. The theme song is "YAH YAH YAH" by CHAGE & ASKA, which was a huge hit, selling over 2 million copies.
