It has been revealed that Koji Kikkawa, who played Narumi Soukichi in "Kamen Rider W", will be performing the theme song for "Kamen Rider W: Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull", the film version of "Futo Tantei", an anime based on the manga sequel to the special effects drama "Kamen Rider W". The theme song is titled "Become a Man Who Looks Good on You", and Kikkawa will be in charge of writing, composing and singing under the name "Narumi Soukichi". The official trailer was released on YouTube, and the song was unveiled. Narumi Soukichi will be played by voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda.
Kikkawa commented on the composition of the song, "I kept in mind the perspective of 'what if Narumi Soukichi were singing it.' I read the script, expanded on the image in my mind, and sprinkled in words that fit the story. I created it to give encouragement to the young people who appear in the film, telling them, 'Just believe in yourself and keep moving forward, and you'll be fine.'" She sent a message to fans saying, "I myself appeared in the Kamen Rider series from 2009 to 2010 as Narumi Soukichi, and I also produced the theme song "ONE WORLD" and insert song "Nobody's Perfect" for previous works. I feel a special connection to this work, and I am looking forward to its release."
Additional cast members were also announced, including Murase Ayumu, Sato Satomi, and Fukuyama Jun. Murase will play Hidari Shotaro as a boy, Sato will play Sonozaki Saeko, who stands in Shotaro's way as the Taboo Dopant, and Fukuyama will play Oshima Nagi, an original character for the movie.
Murase said, "Shotaro will fight hard for Fuuto, which he loves and takes pride in! I had a lot of fun acting out the exchanges with Tsuda Shoukichi. I hope everyone will be moved when they hear those famous lines that make you smile! I hope everyone will look forward to the movie's release."
Sato commented, "There are many powerful battle scenes and moving moments, but when I saw Saeko at the end, I couldn't help but say, 'What an incredible woman!' (laughs). I wonder how incredible she is, and maybe some people will think she's an interesting woman...maybe?? It was a moment when my heart shook, realizing that I had played an incredible character. Everyone, please look forward to it!"
Fukuyama said, "He is a man of love and loyalty. No matter what the world around him is like, I can say that with pride. I hope everyone will watch his way of life and his struggles until the end!"
The movie version is an animated version of the popular episode "Begins Night," which reveals what happened to Hidari Shotaro, Philip, and Narumi Soukichi on the night Kamen Rider W was born. Following the anime series "Fuuto Tantei" that was distributed on the video distribution service "U-NEXT" from August 2022, it will be directed by Yosuke Kabashima and produced by Studio KAI. It will be screened in theaters for a limited time from November 8th.
"Fuuto Tantei" has been serialized in "Weekly Big Comic Spirits" (Shogakukan) since August 2017. It depicts the buddy detective team of Shotaro Hidari and Philip, and the mysterious beauty Tokime, as they face a new strange incident that occurs in Fuuto. The drama staff has reunited, with screenwriter Riku Sanjo, known for the manga "DRAGON QUEST - The Adventures of Dai", illustrator Katsuya Terada in charge of creature design, and Toei's Hideaki Tsukada in charge of supervision.
