It has been announced that "Ueda Channel," the longest-running program in the history of CS TV Asahi Channel and the signature program of comedian Ueda Shinya of the comedy duo "Cream Stew," will begin regular broadcasting on terrestrial TV after 19 years on the air. Starting October 3rd, it will be aired every Thursday from 1:26am to 1:56am (excluding some regions).
"Ueda Channel" is a long-running program that began on CS TV Asahi Channel in August 2006 and has aired over 400 times. Ueda has a strong image of leading the conversation by using "comedian quips" as the MC of various programs, but on this program, he will pursue silly laughs in a free and easy-going manner with his close friends as "Ueda Shinya, a comedian who loves silly things."
The show will feature Ueda's friend of 30 years, Kosaka Daimaou, whom Ueda has praised as "a genius" and "the funniest comedian in Japan," Ueda's "great strategist," Hama Ron, the junior duo from his agency "Eight Bridge"'s Takashi Shinaguri and Tomohiko Beppu, and gravure idol Shimizu Airi, who loves comedy, and will talk in the studio and sometimes even make an appearance on location. The show will have the same "relaxed and silly" atmosphere even on terrestrial TV, and will feature not only the famous "Strongest Idiot Competition" segment, but also Shimizu's sexy segments, all late on Thursday nights. Regarding the show's move to terrestrial TV, Ueda commented, "We've been doing the show on CS for a long time, and now we're moving to terrestrial TV... but these kinds of things happen. Even though we're on terrestrial TV, we plan to keep doing something silly and relaxed that won't add anything (laughs). I hope you'll enjoy it to the fullest. Even if you haven't seen it before, I'd be happy if you'd look back at the old episodes and realize that a show like 'Ueda Channel' has been on CS for 18 years... I hope you'll enjoy it."
Producer Masuda Tetsuhide said, "We will now be broadcasting on terrestrial TV, but core fans of the show can rest assured. The show's easygoing and silly nature will remain unchanged! We also plan to broadcast the popular programs from the cable TV era, such as the "Strongest Idiot Competition" and "New Member Audition," as well as Airi Shimizu's Sexy Program. And, to be honest, the budget will increase a bit, so some parts of the show will become a little more luxurious!
