It has been revealed that singer-songwriter Sheena Ringo will be performing the theme song for the mystery film "About a Place in the Kinki Region" (directed by Shiraishi Koji, to be released on August 8th), starring actors Miho Kanno and Akaso Eiji. The theme song is a newly written song called "Under the Sun," and the official trailer for the film, which includes a snippet of the song, has also been released.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Sekinsan (KADOKAWA), which has sold over 350,000 copies. An editor of an occult magazine suddenly goes missing... Until just before his disappearance, he had been gathering various pieces of information, such as investigative materials from unsolved cases, feature articles on mysterious phenomena, and shelved interview notes from the past, and was investigating something. While searching for him, his fellow editor Ozawa (Akaso) and reporter Chihiro (Kanno) discover that all of these events took place in "a certain place in the Kinki region." This is a new type of "location mystery" that asks why the incidents occur in that particular place.
