It was announced on July 3rd that the rock band Mrs. GREEN APPLE will be performing the Japanese theme song for the latest installment in the Spider-Man series starring British actor Tom Holland, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, released simultaneously in Japan and the US on July 31st). The theme song will be titled "Brand New." Footage and comments from the three band members visiting Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige in Hollywood were also released.
Mrs. Green Apple(hereinafter referred to as Mrs.) has publicly declared themselves to be huge Spider-Man fans since their debut, and even attended the Japan premiere of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" (2023) to show their support.

Recently, director John Cretton posted a video message on the official Spider-Man social media accounts hinting at the announcement of the Japanese theme song artist. Now, Marvel Studios president and executive producer Kevin Feige has released a video message for Japanese fans, in which it was announced that Mrs. Green Apple will be performing the Japanese theme song.
The Japanese theme song, "Brand New," written specifically for this film by band member Motoki Omori, will play during the end credits of the Japanese dubbed version.
In preparation for the production, in February of this year, I met with Feige, Amy Pascal, producer of the "Spider-Man" series, and Dave Jordan, music supervisor who oversees the music for all Marvel productions, at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles.
The music production meeting was a friendly affair, with everyone sharing their love for Spider-Man. Feige and others personally shared top-secret information about "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" and even made requests regarding the direction of the Japanese theme song. Furthermore, Feige, who had listened to Mrs. Green Apple's music beforehand, passionately spoke about his favorite Mrs. Green Apple songs. Later, when Feige visited Japan, he personally contacted Omori, and they reunited.
Feige commented on Mrs. Green Apple, saying, "They are my absolute favorite band! We had a long chat in LA and Tokyo, and I could feel their love and passion for Spider-Man. I feel truly honored that their passion for the new song came through." He was among the first to hear the song sent by Omori and said, "I can't wait for everyone to hear it."
In addition, thanks to Feige and the Marvel Studios team, an online meeting with director Cretton was also arranged. Through thorough discussions with the Spider-Man production team, "Brand New" was created with a deep understanding of the latest film, resulting in a song that speaks for Peter Parker's feelings as he resolves to protect his loved ones and fight to the end as "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man," even in a world where he is alone and without support.
Omori, who wrote the lyrics and composed the song, said, "As a movie fan and an MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) fan, I am participating with the desire to properly convey the significance and love for the Japanese version of the theme song." Furthermore, regarding being involved with a Spider-Man work, of which he is a big fan, he expressed his joy, saying, "I am so happy and overwhelmed to be able to be involved with Spider-Man, whom I have loved since I was a child."
When writing the lyrics, Omori realized that the pose Spider-Man makes when shooting webs, when he turns around, is a universally recognized hand sign that means "I love you," so he incorporated the phrase "Beyond I love you" into the beginning of the chorus.

I am so happy and overwhelmed to be involved with Spider-Man, a character I have loved since I was a child.
I carefully listened to Kevin, Amy, director Destin, and music supervisor Dave about what they considered important for this project, and I poured all my love into creating this song!
I'm sure you're all looking forward to it without me having to say it, but this film is just "amazing".
