It has recently been revealed that the NHK drama series "Danchi no Futari" (Two People in a Housing Complex), starring actresses Kyoko Koizumi and Satomi Kobayashi, will be broadcast on terrestrial television in the network's "Drama 10" slot (NHK General, Tuesdays at 10 PM). The series will consist of 10 episodes and will begin airing on July 14th.
"Danchi no Futari" is based on the novel of the same name by Chiyo Fujino. It is a heartwarming and humorous story of friendship between two childhood friends in their 50s, single, and living with their parents, who were born in a housing complex. The screenplay was written by Noriko Yoshida, who also wrote the "Dr. Koto Clinic" series (Fuji TV) and the April 2024 drama "Destiny" (TV Asahi).
When it aired as a premium drama on the same network in 2024, it received a great response for being a drama that made viewers cherish the small things in everyday life.
The drama will also feature appearances by Mitsuko Oka, Saori Yuki, Yuko Natori, Tetta Sugimoto, Takashi Tsukamoto, Bengal, and Isao Hashizume.
