NHK's popular nature program "Darwin's Coming!" (NHK General) will air "First Landing! The Bird Kingdom at the Edge of the World" on June 7th at 7:30 PM. With special permission, the film crew makes their first landing in a remote, off-the-beaten-path location that is normally off-limits. What did they witness...?
Near the Antarctic, in the raging seas, there was a mysterious island where albatrosses and penguins lived in one of the world's highest densities. Its name was the Diego Ramirez Islands. Birds were everywhere, numbering 200,000 albatrosses, 4 million streaked shearwaters that covered the sky, and 400,000 penguins. We also encountered unusual incidents such as attacks by the giant sea lion, the life-or-death struggles of penguin parenting, and birds fighting over eggs.
Embark on an adventure through an unknown bird kingdom and uncover the secret behind the massive bird gathering.
