It has been announced that actor Takaya Kamikawa will star in one of the segments of the new season of the popular anthology drama "Tales of the Unusual'26 Summer Special" (Fuji TV), which will air on June 27th at 9 PM. This will be Kamikawa's first appearance in the series, and he will play a veteran detective who gets caught up in a strange case.
Kamikawa stars in one of the four "strange" episodes, "Who is the body...?". The story begins with veteran detective Takao Sakuraba (Kamikawa) visiting a house that is the scene of a crime. When Sakuraba enters the house to investigate, he finds the bodies of a man and a woman lying in the bedroom on the second floor. After leaving the bedroom and searching the garden, he realizes he has forgotten his gloves and returns to the bedroom, but the woman's body that was there just moments before has disappeared... The story continues. Takahashi Hiroshi and Kohei Higuchi play Sakuraba's fellow detectives.
Kamikawa commented, "I've never had any connection to the ' Tales of the Unusual' project before, and I thought I wouldn't be asked to participate, so I was genuinely surprised and shocked by this offer." He said that he created the show with the staff of his starring drama "Mondai Bukken," which aired last year, and appealed to viewers, "We all put our heads together and did our best to create this work, so please accept our passion."

◇Comment from Takaya Kamikawa
--Please tell us how you felt when you were cast in "Tales of the Unusual."
"I've appeared in many Fuji TV productions before, and each one has left a lasting impression on me, but I've never had the opportunity to be involved with ' Tales of the Unusual,' so I thought I wouldn't be asked to participate. This offer was a genuine surprise and quite unexpected."
--Please share your thoughts after reading the script for "Who is the body...?".
"This time I'm playing a detective, but there are elements that are different from the detective roles I've played in various works before, and it was refreshing to see how the case is depicted in a way that is unique to ' Tales of the Unusual.' It made me want to be creative and think about how I can make the most of the detective roles I've played so far."
--How was it filming, playing the main character, Sakuraba?
"It was a lot of fun. Takahashi (Hiroshi) and Higuchi (Kohei), who I worked with, brought a wonderful flavor to the work, and I really enjoyed acting and interacting with the three of us. The filming period wasn't long, but because it was so intense, I quickly became close to both of them, and I think we were able to approach the creation of the drama without any reservations or distance in a good way. As for what kind of person Sakuraba was... I'll have to leave that up to the viewers who watch the show, but the filming set was a very fun and great place to work."
--Could you please share some highlights and a message for our viewers?
"This drama is made with the same staff team that I worked with on the drama ' Mondai Bukken' last winter. I think those who enjoyed ' Mondai Bukken' will enjoy this in a different way, and if you like 'What's the Corpse?', I hope this will encourage you to watch ' Mondai Bukken' as well (laughs). We all put our heads together and did our best to create this work, so I hope you will appreciate the passion we put into it."
◇Direction: Kaede Kamiya
"Does the title 'Ichi Ittai' refer to the number of bodies, or does it mean 'Only on earth?' What kind of story is it, is it horror or mystery, and who exactly is the lead actor, Takaya Kamikawa? Please enjoy this bizarre world that is far too chaotic."
