It has been announced that the anime "Haikyu!!", based on the popular volleyball manga by Haruichi Furudate, will be collaborating with the "Volleyball Nations League 2026", which will begin on July 8th. This will be the third collaboration, and a new collaboration visual drawn by Production IG, the animation studio that produces the anime, has been released. It depicts a dynamic attack by Shoyo Hinata and Korai Hoshiumi. The image of the two small players striving to reach the top mirrors the Japanese national team, whose players are mostly smaller in stature compared to foreign players, as they compete against the world for a medal.
A collaborative video featuring the anime "Haikyu!!" and the Japanese national volleyball team will be released in mid-June. The video will link the exciting plays depicted in "Haikyu!!" with scenes of the Japanese national team players in action. The "god-like plays" shown in the anime will be realistically brought to life by the Japanese national team players.
A special "Volleyball Position Diagnosis" will be released at noon on June 4th, where you can find out which volleyball position suits your personality by answering 10 questions. The diagnosis results screen will feature characters from "Haikyu!!" along with the main Japanese national team players for each position.
TBS will broadcast all men's and women's matches of the Japanese round of the "Volleyball Nations League 2026" starting July 8th. BS-TBS will broadcast all of Japan's men's and women's matches in the overseas round, which starts on June 4th.
"Haikyu!!" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from February 2012 to July 2020. It depicts the story of Shoyo Hinata, who suffered a crushing defeat in his last official match in middle school, and his reunion with Tobio Kageyama, the player from the opposing team, at Karasuno High School's volleyball club, where they aim for the top together. The cumulative circulation of the comic books, including digital versions, exceeds 75 million copies.
