The TV anime "The Next Duke Who Said 'I Have No Intention of Loving You' But for Some Reason Keeps Doting On Me," based on the manga serialized on the web manga service "COMIC Polaris" (Flex Comics), will begin airing on TV Asahi's late-night anime block "NUMAnimation" from July 4th.
The film is a heartwarming romantic comedy about Elsa, a poor but optimistic young lady from a fallen noble family, and Julius, an elite but clumsy and complicated heir to the dukedom, who enter into a "contract marriage" on the very day they meet due to a convergence of interests. The second main visual has been released, featuring Elsa and Julius holding sunflowers to their chests. The promotional video has also been released, depicting how Julius's heart is moved by Elsa's straightforward kindness and thoughtfulness.
The artists performing the theme songs have also been announced: singer-songwriter Riria. will perform the opening theme, "Itsuka Chanto.", and singer-songwriter sorato will perform the ending theme, "Saishukai" (Final Episode). The songs were unveiled in the promotional video.
Riria commented, "I am very happy to be in charge of the opening theme for 'Kimi Ai,' or 'The Next Duke Who Said He Had No Intention of Loving You,' But for Some Reason Ends Up Doting on You! I wrote 'Itsuka Chanto.' with my own interpretation of Elsa and Julius in mind. I would be happy if this song could resonate with the story of the two that everyone has in mind."
Sorato said, "I am very happy to be a part of 'Kimi Ai'. I have always been curious about the unseen part that is concluded in the last line of the fairy tale, 'And they lived happily ever after,' and even though I usually sing about the idea of eternity, after reading the original story I empathized with Julius's complicated inner world and was touched by Elsa's purity, and I feel like I was able to create the 'final episode' while reading through their story, and that we can move forward together. I want to watch 'Kimi Ai' while feeling lots of heart-fluttering emotions, and I am looking forward to the final episode of the story."
The anime will be directed by Matsui Hitoyuki and produced by Zero-G and Glass. Yui Ishikawa will voice Elsa and Soma Soma Saito will voice Julius.
