NHK's popular variety show "Bura Tamori" (NHK General), in which entertainer Tamori visits various towns, will air a "Kumamoto Castle Restoration 10th Anniversary New Discoveries Special" on May 30th at 7:30 p.m. The setting for the journey is Kumamoto Castle. The program will explore new discoveries revealed at the restoration site, the skills and feelings of the people that have been passed down, and the full picture that can only be seen now, 10 years after the restoration.
Ten years after his visit just before the Kumamoto earthquake, Tamori returns to Kumamoto Castle. What has become of the places he visited on the program 10 years ago? What new discoveries have been revealed one after another amidst the massive reconstruction of the stone walls and archaeological excavations? This program explores the thoughts of the people struggling on the front lines of reconstruction, inheriting the wisdom and ingenuity of their predecessors, and the current state of Kumamoto Castle as seen from the front lines.
Furthermore, this extended 78-minute version will include plenty of valuable footage from a program filmed 10 years ago, documenting Kumamoto Castle before the disaster, for viewers to enjoy.
Tamori's travel partner will be NHK announcer Mana Sato, and the narration will be provided by singer-songwriter Aimyon.
