The popular variety show "Ame Talk!" (TV Asahi, Thursdays at 11:15 PM) and the chu-hi drink "-196" (Suntory) collaborated to host "Ame Talk! x -196 Roppongi Hills Snack Festival," which opened on May 22nd at Roppongi Hills Arena (Minato Ward, Tokyo). The show's MCs, Toru Hotohara and Atsushi Tamura, and Shinyama from the comedy duo "Sayaka," appeared at the opening event held that same day and spoke passionately about their love for snacks.
The "Otsumami Matsuri" (Snack Festival) is an event where you can actually taste the snacks that popular comedians chose after much deliberation in the online movie "-196 Otsumami Draft Meeting," which is currently being streamed on TVer and TV Asahi Video. This is the second time the event has been held, and Atsushi chose pork belly as his number one pick, while Niiyama chose liver and chives as his number one pick.
At the event, Hotohara's snack ranking was announced. When Atsushi and Niiyama asked him to guess the ranking, saying, "It depends on what he ate for lunch," Hotohara replied, "A pork bowl set and fried white fish. I ate it with tartar sauce." However, Atsushi added, "But you can't predict Hotohara's choices," and Niiyama added, "There's a possibility he'll eat the same thing as lunch," which made the situation even more difficult for them to predict.
Ultimately, Hotohara chose "potato salad" as his number one pick. "I love potato salad! It's great to snack on while eating it...it's really good," he commented enthusiastically. He then chose "fried chicken" as his second choice and "stir-fried liver and chives" as his third, saying, "I'm 58 now, so I'm getting weaker in all sorts of things (laughs)," but his selections were all hearty, prompting Atsushi to jokingly retort, "No, no, Hotohara-san, you're quite the prankster (laughs)!" which drew laughter from the audience.
"Ame Talk! x-196 Roppongi Hills Snack Festival" is being held at Roppongi Hills Arena until the 24th. The event runs from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM (last order at 8:00 PM), and admission is free.
