NHK's documentary program "Document 72 Hours" (NHK General) will rebroadcast past music-related episodes in a special segment titled "Document 72 Hours x MUSIC" from May 19th to 21st in the late-night hours. Additionally, Nao Matsuzaki, who sings the theme song for "Document 72 Hours," "Kawabe no Ie" (House by the River), will appear on the station's music program "Utacon" (NHK General, Tuesdays at 7:57 PM) on the 19th. Matsuzaki commented, "I want to sing carefully about how everyone, whether they are fans of 'Document 72 Hours' or hearing it for the first time, can find the beauty and transience of their own world and everyday life."
"Document 72 Hours x MUSIC" is a special feature timed to coincide with "Shibuya 'Tower of Music': Everyone's Playlist," which will air on May 22nd at 10pm. The episode is set in a huge CD and record store in Shibuya, Tokyo, and listens to the voices of people who seek physical copies rather than digital data, and who search for "their own music" in the real world rather than online.
The three episodes being rebroadcast this time are "Fuji Rock: The Long-Awaited Summer Day," "Drawn In by Showa-Era Pop Songs," and "Shinjuku Music Studio: The Reason We Form a Band." "Fuji Rock: The Long-Awaited Summer Day" will air on NHK General on May 19th at 1:55 AM, "Drawn In by Showa-Era Pop Songs" on May 20th at 1:51 AM, and "Shinjuku Music Studio: The Reason We Form a Band" on May 21st at 2:06 AM.
The program is a documentary that places a camera in one location each time and observes the various human dramas that unfold there for 72 hours. It listens to the stories of people who meet by chance and captures a glimpse of "the present."
