Additional cast members have been announced for the TV anime "Cat and Dragon," based on a popular light novel Shosetsuka ni Naro."Atsumi Tanezaki, Chika Anzai, and Junya Enoki will be joining the cast. Tanezaki will play Gally, a tomboyish girl raised in an orphanage; Anzai will play Annelossa, a girl attending a magic school; and Enoki will play Stan, the prince of a country where cats and dragons live.
A visual and promotional video highlighting the relationship between cats and humans has been released. The visual depicts pairs of cats and humans, including Mama-nyan and Annerossa, Kurobane and Stan, and Shirotae and Gally. The promotional video offers a glimpse into the stories that will unfold for each pair.
Tanezaki, who plays the role of Gally, commented, "It's a relaxed and gentle world. Gally is quite lively within that world. I went into the recording hoping that people would think, 'I want to keep watching this interaction forever...' I hope that cat lovers will also be impressed by the movements of the cats. Please look forward to it!"
Anzai, who plays the role of Annerossa, said, "In our days overflowing with information and excitement, this story offers a moment of respite, with its warm and gentle worldview. In that world, Annerossa is diligently studying magic. I hope you will watch over her as she works hard and grows, encouraged by her mother cat's gentleness and sometimes loving strictness."
Enoki, who plays Stan, said, "Stan is the prince of the kingdom, but he longs to be an adventurer and sets out on an adventure without hesitation. He has a refreshing temperament and charges ahead once he sets his mind to something. His interactions with Kurobane are also fun."
"Cats and Dragons" is a light novel written by Amara and illustrated by Mai Okuma. It depicts the unusual bond between a dragon raised by cats, cats, and humans, and became a hot topic for achieving the number one spot in the daily rankings for a short story on "Shosetsuka ni Narou" (Shosetsuka ni Naro), which is unusual. The comic adaptation has also gained popularity, and the series has sold over 1.3 million copies in total.
The anime will be directed by Oh Jin-goo and produced by OLM. Takehito Koyasu will voice Nekoryu, a dragon raised by cats. It will air on TOKYO MX, BS Nippon Television, and Yomiuri Television starting in July.
