The fourth episode of the Fuji TV Monday Getsuku drama "Saba-can, Going to Space," starring actor Takumi Kitamura , aired on May 4th. The episode featured the appearance of Sosuke Terao (played by Kodai Kurosaki), a graduate of Wakasa Fisheries High School, which generated a lot of buzz on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
The drama is an original coming-of-age story based on the true story of students at a fisheries high school in Fukui Prefecture who challenged themselves to achieve their big dream of "developing space food."
Two years have passed since Terao and the other students who took on the challenge of developing space food graduated. Although they obtained HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification, a food safety management system devised by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) for producing space food, there has been no further progress since then.
Meanwhile, three new members from Wakasa Fisheries High School—Megumi Miyai (played by Ikoi Hayase), Itsuki Hayakawa (played by Tsubasa Nakagawa), and Mio Kuwata (played by Yuzu Ashikawa)—take over the development of space food. Shunichi Asano (played by Kitamura) takes the three to Terao.
Terao recalled that he struggled with achieving the right viscosity for space food, which required increasing the viscosity to prevent splashing. "Even though we were told it couldn't splash, we didn't know what the right viscosity was. We ended up putting in too much gelatin and it turned into something like mackerel jelly," he revealed, describing the difficulties he faced at the time.
Terao, who now works as a fisherman, delighted Megumi and the others by bringing in a large quantity of mackerel, saying, "You'll use these for your practical training. You'll probably fail many times anyway. The sea will be angry if you waste them."
Social media was buzzing with comments like, "I'm so happy Kurosaki-kun is appearing even though he's graduated," "Terao-kun looks happy that the baton has been passed to the second generation," "Terao-kun is such a great alumnus," "Terao-kun, now a senior, prepared lots of mackerel for his juniors," and "Terao has become a really nice senior."
Regarding Kurosaki, who has been making headlines for his stunning performance in the Netflix series "Kujo's Great Sin," some comments on social media included: "Kujo's Great Sin was good, but Kodai Kurosaki Kouyo is really doing great," "I love Kodai Kurosaki's voice. It's a distinctive low voice and one of a kind. He's an actor to watch," and "Kurosaki's acting was amazing."
