Actress Atsuko Takahata will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which airs on April 28th at 1 PM.
He has reached 50 years as an actor. He says he has been astonished by the decline in his physical and mental strength since turning 70. In particular, his declining memory is affecting his work, and he is struggling to memorize his lines. He sticks papers with his lines written on them where he can see them, but he has done it so much that he has had to change his curtains. He says that the greatest benefactor in his acting career was the late Toshiyuki Nishida, who treated him to so many meals that it could have been built on his house, and he laughs as he recalls a big mistake he made involving alcohol during a touring performance that he will never forget.
Her mother, who never left her hometown of Kagawa Prefecture no matter what, apparently moved to Tokyo to live with her as soon as she learned that her grandchild was going to be born. In her later years, her mother suffered from dementia and passed away at the age of 95 in a care facility, but she carried deep sorrow in her heart. Ms. Takahata had two younger brothers who died shortly after birth. To her mother, they were two sons. Now, wiping away tears, she realizes that her mother's enthusiasm for her grandchild, saying "it's my turn," stemmed from those feelings.
