Actresses Kuriko Namino and Yaeko Mizutani will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), airing on April 27th at 1 PM. The two have been friends for 60 years. When they first met, Namino was a pampered young lady, raised in a family where her father was a Kabuki actor. Mizutani, on the other hand, was a leading actress of the Shinpa theater troupe, had been performing on stage since her teens, and was already a big star in the entertainment industry.
When Namino appeared on the show in 1988, she said that she had loved cleaning since she was a child. She still loves cleaning, and she even cleaned her hospital room every day when she was hospitalized last year for acute bronchitis.
When Mizutani appeared in 1980, she said that the previous year she had seen her mother, the first Yaeko Mizutani, off, and that a few days later she had filled in for her mother in a play she was scheduled to perform in. She described how she was terrified at the time by the reaction of the audience who had bought tickets to see her mother.
Kuroyanagi, who has known Mizutani for a long time, was laughing hysterically as she recounted behind-the-scenes stories from a live television drama they co-starred in during the early days of television. When Namino joined in, the conversation became even more lively.
